What is the best way to send an error message displayed by Spire software to the Spire Support team?


Answer:


Error messages in Spire may display further details of an error if a “Show Details…” button is seen in the error window.  The text of the error is typically more useful than a screenshot.  


The instructions below describe how to send the text of an error message to the Spire Support team.



When there IS a “Show Details…” button in the error window:

  • Click on the “Show Details…” button to display the full details of the error.
  • Click in the text field of the error then press CTRL+A on your keyboard to select all the text.
  • Press CTRL + C on your keyboard to the error text to your clipboard.
  • Paste the copied text into your first email (or in your reply to Spire support) by clicking in an empty spot in your email and pressing CTRL + V on your keyboard.

 

When there is NOT a “Show Details…” button in the error window:

  • Make sure the error is clearly visible on your screen/monitor.
  • Click the Spire window displaying the error.
  • Press CTRL + ALT + PrtScn on your keyboard.
  • Paste the screenshot into your first email (or in your reply to Spire support) by clicking in an empty spot in your email and pressing CTRL + V on your keyboard.
